There are three common ways to resize you product images to 300x300 pixels in size and they are explained below:
1) Resize your product images yourself in Adobe Photoshop (if you have it). If you do, follow these steps:
Open Adobe Photoshop.
Click "File" then click "Open" and locate the picture(s) you want resized.
Now that you have your picture(s) in front of you, click "Image" on the top menu bar & select "Image Size".
You will see the width & height pixel dimensions at the top of the box. If the width & height numbers are different: change the largest number (height or width) to 300. Make sure that the "Scale Styles", "Constrain Proportions", and "Resample Image" boxes are all checked and that the "Bicubic (best for smooth gradients)" option is highlighted in the drop down menu and then click "OK". If the width & height numbers are the same: skip to step 8.
Now make sure that your background color is set to the color White (#ffffff). Your background color is located on the left toolbar of your screen and is the bottom box. (the two color boxes overlapping eachother on the bottom of the toolbar on the left). **If your webstore has a different background color instead of white, feel free to change your background color to that specific color.
Click "Image" again at the top of your screen and select "Canvas Size".
Change the Width and Height to Pixels (its usually set to inches instead, so make sure that you set it to Pixels) and then change the number that is NOT 300 to 300. (Now both the width and height should say 300). Now click the "Canvas Extension Color" drop down menu, and select White or Background color. Click "OK".
Click "File" on the top menu, and click "Save for Web & Devices".
Make sure that JPEG Maximum is selected and that the quality is set to 100. Also make sure that there is 0 Blur and that the "Optimized" checkbox is checked. Click "Save".
Set the location to where you want to save your new image (Creating a new folder on your desktop and putting your new files there is probably the easiest). Important: Make sure that you name your file name EXACTLY after your item number that you set in your product spreadsheet. Make sure that there are no spaces either. Once you do these two things, click "Save".
Your image should now be 300x300 pixels in size!
2) If you do not have Adobe Photoshop, you can download a similiar program that is FREE called getpaint.net. Follow these steps to download, install, and start resizing:
Go to www.getpaint.net and click the download link at the top. Scroll down the page and download the program and install it.
Once installed, open the program, and click "File" and then click "Open". Find the image that you want to resize and open it.
Click "Image" on the top menu, and click "Resize".
Under the Pixel Size, find the width and height and change the larger number of the two to 300 (it doesnt matter if its width or height) and click "OK". **If both the width and the height have the same number, change either one of them to 300 (so that both the height and width now show 300), click "OK", and skip to step 9.
Now set the Secondary Color on the bottom left hand of the screen to White (#ffffff). (If your webstore doesnt have a white background, change it to that respective color instead)
Click "Image" on the top menu again, but this time select "Canvas Size".
Under the Pixel Size, set the width or the height to 300 so that both the height and width now show 300.
Under the Anchor section, change the Anchor to "Middle" and click "OK".
Now click "File" and then click "Save As".
Set the location to where you want to save your new image (Creating a new folder on your desktop and putting your new files there is probably the easiest). Important: Make sure that you name your file name EXACTLY after your item number that you set in your product spreadsheet. Make sure that there are no spaces either. Once you do these two things, make sure that the "Save File Type" is set to .jpg and then click "Save".
Your image should now be 300x300 pixels in size!
3)Email your images to your store builder and he or she will resize them for you. Just make sure that they are named EXACTLY after their item numbers. If you have a lot of images, it would be best to put them into a zip file and email them as attachments no larger than 10 MB per email. All image resizes done by us are free until your webstore goes live. As always, contact your Account Manager or Store Builder if you have any questions.
